TRIGGER POINT RELEASE THERAPY

(DRY NEEDLING)

Pain Relief through Release of Muscular Holding Patterns

Trigger point release, more recently also called "dry needling" is an extremely effective means of myofascial release.  Jennifer extensively studied this technique at the Tri-State College of Acupuncture as well as through continuing education programs.

Commonly referred to as muscular "knots," trigger points are taught bands/nodules in musculature responsible for pain. A dysfunctional muscle containing trigger points will remain in a fixed shortened position, often one that results in local reduction of blood flow, lymph drainage and range of motion. Acupuncture trigger release methods allow the muscle to release this fixed position and return to its proper relaxed and supple state. Commonly used by athletes, trigger point release aids training by decreasing recovery time, diminishing muscle soreness and preventing injury. Acupuncture is useful both for treating injury as well as part of a general conditioning program to enhance overall performance. Whether due to physical overuse, sports injury, trauma, or improper posture, trigger points are a very common root cause of many pain patterns.

Common Manifestations of Muscular Trigger Points

  • Tennis/Golf Elbow
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • TMJ Pain
  • Headaches/Migraines
  • Knee/Foot/Ankle Pain
